Created for a meticulously thoughtful album from Drummer and Composer Mark Guiliana, the artwork reflects the negative and positive space of noise and silence — form and space — with the rhythm of the partially-hidden letterforms making the title being created from the interaction and spaces between the two.

The title and idea behind ‘the sound of listening’ is taken from the book ‘Silence’ by Thích Nhất Hạnh, which considers, as Mark explains, ‘the inner silence required to truly observe the world.’

Another Land is a studio album by English jazz legend Dave Holland, alongside guitarist Kevin Eubanks and drummer Obed Calvaire.

The artwork was created from an original letterpress print by Oli Bentley. Through the collaboration, Dave and Oli found they shared a love of bold, colourful graphic artwork — which informed the artwork and the creation of a new visual direction to represent Dave’s work on Edition Records.
