Unusual Ingredients is a multi-sensory project bringing to life the relationships between sound and flavour. This very special box set combines the 14 track vinyl record, each track with a piece of corresponding food to eat whilst listening – all packaged in glass test tubes, petri dishes, and encased in specially-cut foam packaging. We’ve worked on some special and unusual record packaging before – but never anything like this.
Limited edition of just 100 numbered sets created. Includes digital download version.

Drawing on the latest gastrophysical research into sensory perception, the music uses exact sonic frequencies and musical gestures calibrated to enhance the feels and flavours of each ingredient. Think Willy Wonka meets electronic music meets cutting-edge science.
Clad in natural kraft board and wrapped in a cream bellyband, the box set houses eight glass test tubes, two Petri dishes and a selection of individually wrapped ingredients set into a custom-made foam mould. The box opens from the centre to reveal an illustrated guide to tasting, with the vinyl safely slotted behind.
Unusual ingredients is created by musicians Jacob Thompson-Bell and Adam Martin, and food artist Caroline Hobkinson. As well as the limited edition vinyl, the release is also available digitally with the food elements available to buy as a pack separately. Find out more at unusualingredients.co
